Comments on other articles

Another aspect which I needed to improve on in the second part of this assessment was to communicate more and comment on other peoples blogs and stories. This is something which I have taken to by commenting so far on two blogs, I have however commented on more blog but I am waiting for my comments to get approved.

Once I have finished commenting on other poeples blogs or stories I will put a full list of all the stories onto my blog and also I will include on a seperate piece of paper whne I had my assignment in.

Podcast

As for the second part of this assignment, a key part is to do ‘multimedia’ stuff. I am please to say that myself and Manish (another group member from the energy/technology team) have done a second podcast

we covered two main key topics, which we felt are debatable and ones which are current issues. we looked at the following two below

should people care about climate change

story idea gone

After a weeks of not being a able to find a story related to energy or technology, I finally found one, however the story has already be done and as in fact posted today.

It would have a been a good story to cover especially as I am really struggling for stories at the moment, so i am back on the look-out and hopefully i would find something sooner rather than later.

Where I am now

I havent paid much attention to my wordpress, twitter, delicious and google reader lately and havent posted much on Birmingham Recycled as I would have liked to. At the moment I am just blogging and tweeting about news stories which are relevant to this project. I am also hoping to find a new lead on a new story which I can potentially do for Birmingham Recycled this week.

multimedia idea

As its all about adding multimedia aspects to my portfolio, i am now considering the possiblility of going back to one of my oringinal story ideas i had. Click the link below:

I ran this idea pass my editor, but after some discussion we decided that it was more national rather than local based, however after getting some ideas together I have thought maybe i could do a audio slideshow again and arrange a interview with a local MP in the midlands, it may be hard to get hold of a MP but i will look into it and get in touch with the relevant people.

Over the past few weeks, it has been hard to grasp any good stories for Birmingham recycled as everything has been based around the election debate. With that in mind i did come across a interesting story idea check the link below

thought i could put a local spin on it by interviewing a local police officer in midlands to see if they back the scheme or not.

Podcast

Last week, myself and a group member got together to produce a podcast for Birmingham recycled. In the podcast we talked about all the envionrmental and green issues which each election team has talked about in their manefesto’s. Overall the podcast the went very well, we managed to get it edited to a good standard with sound levels etc.

As we have include ‘multimedia’ aspects into our portfolios, we both decided to that an audio slide-show would work the best and be the most effective. However over the past few days we have had trouble loading it onto youtube. Hopefully we will have up-loaded by the end of the week at the latest.
